Current Projects

Project Awareness (India)

The India Project is one of the biggest projects NAN is tackling. The goal of the project is to raise funds that will be used to create care packages for people in India based on need. These packages will be tailored specifically for different types of people whether that be men, women, or children. Care packages will include materials related to basic hygiene and promote the awareness of living a healthy lifestyle. To raise funds, NAN will host a variety of fundraisers such as bake sales around (but not limited to) the North Carolina region. Funds will also go towards getting medical attention to the impoverished and medical professionals from India will help educate people on basic hygienic necessities through visual aid.

NAN believes that the underlying cause for the poor quality of life and social injustice is a lack of education. For that reason, NAN is dedicated to providing people with these resources. You can join the effort by being a part of the NAN organization, holding your own fundraisers, or by directly donating money to NAN.

Little Heel Project (India)

Picture this: A world in which all newborns are born healthy. An ideal living condition in which newborn screening is not scarce, but a routine systematic check-up that can prevent many treatable metabolic diseases. Unfortunately, we as a society are far away from attaining this utopia but have the chance to create a small positive change towards attaining this goal. According to a recent study by Sharma et al., the incidence of inborn errors of metabolism in India was 2.9% in a cohort of 70,590 babies.

We are living in the year 2020, where newborn screening is still a luxury in countries like India. Newborn screening is done in babies in their first few days of life to eliminate certain disorders and conditions that can restrict normal development. Newborn screening can detect diseases that can be treatable, but when left undiagnosed, it can lead to several comorbidities and can sometimes be life-threatening.

For example, congenital hypothyroidism (thyroid disease in newborns) can be screened and treated. If you miss the diagnosis, the child will end up living with an irreversible intellectual disability. Here, your $10 (Rs.700) donation might prevent 2 children from getting the ill-effects of this disease.

SHED LIGHT ON INJUSTICE  (InterACT)

Human rights abusers hide in the shadows. They kidnap, imprison, and torture their subjects under the shroud of secrecy. That’s why we work to expose human rights violations whenever, wherever they happen, and shine a beacon of hope to everyone still waiting for justice.

Many victims of domestic violence been forced to leave their homes because of abuse, and arrive at our safe havens with just a suitcase. Those who go on to our transitional housing program or homes in the community may lack the financial resources to purchase what they need for their new homes. You can provide clothing, supplies, and other essential items they will need to rebuild their lives free from violence- and let them know how much we care.

Together, we can make universal human rights a reality. But we need your support.

Interact is dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic and sexual violence in Wake County, North Carolina. InterAct saves lives, rebuilds lives, and secures safer futures for victims and survivors and their families.
